Dr. Barlow was born and raised in Ohio before attending The Ohio State University, where he earned his undergraduate degree—and developed a lifelong loyalty to the Buckeyes. After graduating from OSU, he married his high school sweetheart, and the two remain happily married today.

Dr. Barlow went on to earn a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at Wright State University, where his research focused on the effects of hydrogen peroxide on porcine coronary arteries and BKCa channels. He then completed his medical degree at Wright State before heading to Medical College of Georgia for his pediatric residency, followed by a cardiology fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Barlow and his wife are the proud parents of four children, all of whom have grown up and graduated from college—though none have (so far!) chosen to follow their father into the world of medicine.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Barlow enjoys attending Ohio State Buckeyes football games—especially when they include a victory over the “team up north.” He also loves spending time outdoors, whether that means working around the house, camping, or playing sports such as pickleball, golf, and basketball.

One of Dr. Barlow’s favorite parts of being a physician is teaching. He takes pride in helping patients and their families understand heart conditions clearly and comfortably. This may involve hand-drawn diagrams or preprinted images (he’s quick to note that he’s not an artist), but his goal is always the same: making sure everyone leaves with a clear understanding. Many parents remark on the extra time he takes to explain things in a way that truly makes sense.
